Serenety
fans look no further!
21/9/2000 - Well actually just a little bit further.
This
much, to be precise. After months of prompting my forgetful friend, Serenety
finally returned the interview questions I sent her ages ago. She only
lost them a few times <gg>, so I'll let her off. It's rather interesting
as well, so READ IT. Please.
Mudmeet details!
21/9/2000 - No, I haven't gone mad. I know that
the mudmeet has just been and gone, but it doesn't stop people planning
ahead for the next one, right? So the next one is February, in Blackpool.
That is, if enough people decide to go. A few mudders live there apparently,
so support shouldn't be a problem. Go here
for the details. THEN, after that I've heard rumours that our very own
Jincks is planning another one for around Easter. I guess I'll have to
torture some info out of her <g>
Big Brother
is watching....
21/9/2000 - After the resounding
success of Big Brother throughout the world, it's only right that we mudders
get the chance to take part in our own version. That's why Theman and Serenety
(along with help from a few wizzes of course) are organising a MUD2 Big
Brother Extravaganza! Details can be found here,
but basically you will need a level 3 pp to play, after contacting Serenety
first of course. I'll keep everyone updated as much as possible, but I'm
sure I won't need to - Seren is looking after that side of things I believe
- this should be fun....
Woo, halflife!
15/9/2000 - I've just discovered the joys of half-life.
What a great game! Cool online too, although I won't have much time to
do it, because of my itching desire to make Warlock again <g>. Still,
once I get a bit of free time, I'll try and convert the mud2 Duke Nukem
levels to Half-life levels, as I think the game engine is a lot better.
The horrible
crash...
15/9/2000 - Well, apparently the phyiscal hard-disk
on which the mud2 game itself is stored decided to fail. Permanently. All
the accounts from July onwards were lost, including all the bb messages,
logs, etc, etc. So we have to start again, all that way. It was no-one's
fault (except maybe Gameplay themselves for buying crap hard-drives) and
lots of people have been blaming the wizards for not restoring our personae.
They have no records of personae though and so couldn't restore anyone
at all. :0(
PARTY!!!
15/9/2000 - I can't remember the last party we
had ingame. I think it was Cora and Maniac's wedding, and I wasn't playing
then so never saw it. SO, I was just wondering if there's any chance we
could have a party sometime, nice wizzes? Please...? <g> Christmas maybe?
Someone's birthday (got to be 21, 18, 40, 50 etc, etc maybe)?
Mudmeet weekend!
15/9/2000 -...is the time when lots of players
head off down to Bristol for a few (lots) of beers and the chance to be
the envy of EVERY mud player - they could get a mouse mat from Richard
(I'm serious here). Have a drink on me guys, it's only fair since the rest
of us will be taking your points whilst your away <cackles>.
Suggestions
for when mud is down
7/9/2000 - What do you do when mud is down? Do
you chat in Wireplay's own chat-room? Do you play another mud? Do you chat
to other mudders via icq or summit like that? Do you scream at your monitor
and trash the place? I'd like to know for a little piece I was thinking
of putting together for Muddled Times. If you could attack me in-game and
chat, or even prod me in the tearoom, I'll be grateful of a reply - you
could even
I...need...my...fix....please...
7/9/2000 -Mud is broke! After trying in vain for
the past two days to get into mud from college (which has always been possible
before), I read on the gameplay forums that there is a problem their end
and not ours. At first, Marmite thought that someone might have kicked
a lead out by mistake <g>, but Richard soon set us straight. I can't
actually remember what the technical definition was, but basically the
server buggered up <g>, and Richard and the Gameplay guys were waiting
on someone to get down to the offices with some Linux system disks after
trying unsuccessfully to reboot! In the meantime, my advice would be to
(if you haven't already) sign up for a mud2.com
account (10 free hours), or play British
Legends, which is an older version of mud2, and it's rather good.
New mud2
site on the horizon!
4/9/2000 - I've been informed of a new mud2 site
that is soon to surface. It will try to appeal to both mud2.com and wireplay
mud2, and will combine the best bits from everyones sites (interviews,
bash reports, news, profiles, etc etc). The makers have promised to keep
me nformed. (Probably because I'm helping with it heh).
Vaevictis
is STILL MORTAL.
4/9/2000 - Those were the words that came from
the tearoom one set last week. You can just feel the frustration and anger
in them. Of course, he got the usual "Do something about it", "It's your
fault", and "Get a move on" replies. So I say this not to skit at him,
but to ENCOURAGE him - we all know you can do it, so just keep trying.
You don't have to play your wizrunning persona every set to prove you can
do it. My advice (for what it's worth - 1p) would be to build up a few
personas to Warlock or something (says the man who has only ever had one
warlock - and that only for a few minutes). Good luck mate :0)
Hades, my
apologies...
4/9/2000 - Have you met Hades yet? Apparently he's
a captain of WOTB, and we were chatting in the tearoom one evening, and
he tried to get me to join. After politely declining, he told me that the
badger still cares, and to avoid any gerbils.... In return for this advice
I told him I'd do a WOTB page for my site. I just haven't had time yet
(I'm going back to college on Monday so have been busy sorting that out
- only three days a week but I can mud all day there I suppose, something
I can't do in work, although I've tried let me tell you <g>).
Need a job?
Look here!
4/9/2000 - Writer wanted. Must be familiar with
mud2, especially the wireplay incarnation. Experience of the game preferred,
but not essential. No pay, but will get lots of respect and their own page.
Mustn't be going anywhere in a hurry :0)
Look, I'd love for someone to write a regular column for
this site, is what I'm trying to say. Any takers? Contact me here
if you are in the least bit interested. Thanks guys.
Muddled Times
Story
4/9/2000 - One of my real-life mates is working
on a mud2 story for Muddled Times. I've read the first draft (which Karya
has got), and I like it. If you have an idea for him, he said he will be
happy to try and fit it in if he can - you can mail Fearless in-game or
here
for more details. He's not quite a newbie (apparently he played under a
secret persona for a while until he learnt the basics, so I wouldn't embarass
him heh), and said the locations and stuff might not be 100% accurate.
No awards
this week...
4/9/2000 - Through general laziness more than anything
else (hey, I'm honest at least). I have got nominations that WILL be carried
over to the next set of awards <giggles at Fluked>, unless people can
better them.
Ezesurf bites
the dust...
4/9/2000 - No sooner did I sign up with them did
they go bust, claiming that people had been using the freecall service
too much <whistles innocently>. I think they just can't handle mudders,
myself. Which brings me to my point - does anyone know of a decent frecall
ISP? Benny reckons I should try 24-7freecall, and I might, but I'm not
sure yet. So what ISP's are you guys using, and are they any good? Please
tell me!!
